Meet Baby Girl. Or as my son has named her, One Eyed Betty. Here’s her story. One early morning in July, my Farmer was out changing irrigation pipe in the pasture and came across a new born calf. No momma cow around anywhere. My Farmer wondered if maybe it was a twin and the momma had walked away with the other calf, forgetting about this one. Whatever the reason might have been, we needed to make sure this calf had something to eat, so he called me and asked me to bring out a bottle of colostrum. What’s best? The Smell of Fresh cut hay or Fresh plowed soil.
The results are in! Did you vote in my poll? I posted it last week on my Facebook page…just for fun and for something different to do. The question was which do you like better…the smell of fresh mowed hay or flesh plowed dirt. After I posted it, I got to thinking about the wording and wondered…if I had used different words, would it have made a difference in the vote? My Farmer, My Hero
OH MAN!! I had an “incident” happen to me this week that reminded me that there is no way I could ever farm this place on my own. Nope. NO. WAY. Here’s what happened. My job was to start the short wheel line by my house. It partly waters my yard so it benefits me, so I’m good with doing this job. What it entails is, moving the wheel line into place, hooking up the hose to the wheel line pipe, hooking up the other end of the hose to the outlet valve, and turning the water one. Easy peasy. I’ve done it many times. One important thing to remember…
