Mini Vaca for Us! Yay!!

My Farmer and I ran away for a day. A much needed mini vaca.
..
Thankfully, we picked the day before the snow storm to go on our drive. We ended up getting 4 inches of snow, so I know the mountain passes on the way to were we went would have had way more snow! This picture is at my house the day after our drive. Snow in June. How fun! Not.

Being in the mountains does amazing things to a person’s mind and soul. It rained most of the time we were driving, but it let up just enough for us to take a couple of short hikes.

The rain made nature’s colors so vibrant. The trees with their new growth on the ends of their branches looked like Christmas trees with lights on them. Almost making you think they might glow at night.

We checked out the hot springs pool we use during hunting season. It was pretty much under water and a bit chilly.
The river was running high and fast. As you stood beside the roaring water you could hear the rocks being tumbled around by the water’s powerful force.

Just another beautiful view

Ducks were swimming and skimming the water. Enjoying the refreshing rain.
We did not see any wildlife, which was a downside. I’m sure they were all curled up under some shelter, waiting out the rain.

I did bring home a few things from our hike. Ticks. Not good. I found one crawling on me as we were almost home. I totally freaked out. I wanted to jump out of the pickup and get it off. My Farmer was doing 65 mph down the highway, so that wasn’t an option. I grabbed a sandwich baggie and put it in that. Then watched it the rest of the way home, making sure it didn’t escape. Yuck! A shower was first on my list when we got home.

All in all it was a beautiful day.

One mini vacation consisting of 10 hours isn’t anything like a 10 day vacation, but in my world it’s still a vacation. When you live on a farm, you take what you can get. 10 hours was what we took. I’ll take that and it’ll be enough until the next opportunity comes. We are refreshed and rejuvenated, and back to farming. Well, my Farmer is. 😉

I enjoyed this mini vacation, but I would love for the next one to be a bit longer. Maybe overnight? That would be nice.

That’s how you take vacations when you are Livin’ the Life, the Farm Life that is.
