191 just went into the book with 102 and 59. The book of cows that are not nice when they have a baby. The book of cows that may hurt you if you give them the chance. Most of our cows will not “take” you. You can walk through them anytime and they really don’t care. However, if they have a calf, especially a new born, it’s a whole nother ballgame. The game? Remembering the Night I Saved a Cow and her Calf
There is a point, as it is melting in the fields, that the snow becomes soft enough that the cows can walk through but we can not drive our ATVs through it. Cows have a tendency to walk as far away as possible to calve. When you put the two together, it can turn into trouble. When this happened last week, we drove the tractor out and rescued the cow and her calf. As we were doing this, I was reminded of a story from 2 years ago.
