    Donuts – Fast and Easy

    These are so fast and easy to make and they taste sooo good!!  I can get them made fast in the morning when company is expected for coffee.  What a wonderful time, sitting around visiting with friends, drinking coffee, while eating fresh hot homemade donuts.  Yum Yum Donuts  1 cup water 1 package dry yeast 3 tablespoons sugar 1 egg beaten 1 teaspoon salt 3 tablespoons melted shortening 3 cups flour vegetable oil for frying Combine water, sugar, and yeast in bowl.  Let stand until foamy.  Add egg, salt, shortening, and flour.  Mix well.  Roll out dough on floured surface.  Cut into doughnuts.  Let rise on slightly greased waxed paper…

    Vacation time for my Farmer

    It’s been a long busy spring and summer with hardly any breaks here on the farm. And no breaks makes for a very grouchy Farmer. And I guess maybe a grouchy Farmer’s wife too.     The Evolution of the Tractor Seat

    One of my Farmers favorite sayings is “You can’t get anything done if your butt’s not in the seat.  I have learned that when I volunteer (haha, as if I really have a choice some days) to drive a tractor, I have to be committed to staying in the seat for the whole day.  No running errands, no hair appointments, no going out to lunch with friends, or other fun stuff a girl likes to do.
