How I finally got my Farmer to eat Tuna Fish

I love tuna fish. I grew up eating it a lot. Cold tuna sandwich, grilled tuna sandwich, tuna fish casserole, even straight from the can. My Farmer does did not like tuna fish. He would tell me things like “Real mean don’t eat tuna fish”. Or his dads favorite was “You’re henpecked if you eat tuna fish”. I figured he didn’t want to look unmanly in his dads eyes, so I never pushed the tuna.😉 Tuna fish became one of those foods I ate when my Farmer was away. Same with canned chili and grape Koolaid. I know. Don’t judge. HAHA.

Anyways, after some time of being married to a picky eater, I slowly have learned ways to make things I like in a way that my Farmer will eat them. The secret….spicy and lots of onion. How simple is that! Crazy, but it works. The Spicier I make it, the better. I’ve decided that if it’s spicy enough, his mouth is burning and he doesn’t really taste anything. Right!?! This philosophy worked with his dad too. He did not like pizza but he would eat my homemade pizza. Reason…..I always had fresh jalapenos sliced for him to put on his pizza slice. It worked. Plus I always put dried red pepper flakes in my sauce, giving it a bit of spice. A win win.

Anyways….back to my tuna story. I used this thinking to come up with a recipe for a tuna fish sandwich my Farmer will eat……a can of tuna, some miracle whip, a bit of mayo, some chopped dill pickle, a lot of chopped onion and a dash or two or three of dried red peppers. I do have to take out my portion for my sandwich before I add the onions and red peppers for his.

My Farmer will eat a tuna fish sandwich now. But only if its grilled. But that’s the way I like it best too. Win Win!! Maybe that’s one of the secrets to Livin’ the Life, the Farm Life that is…..SPICE! 😉 HAHAHA!!!
