UPDATE on the Twins!!
UPDATE!!!! On the set of twins I wrote about previously here. The momma and the first born calf are both doing fine and are out in the pasture with the rest of the herd. We were able to take her bracelets off the next day which was great. She really does love her baby now. And actually, before we let them out of the pen, the other twin had figured out how to eat off their momma. She, the calves are heifers, would wait until her sister (the one the momma liked) was eating and then she would sneak in and eat also. It was cute. The momma does not…

Sometimes it takes a little “convincing” before a momma cow loves her calf
The other morning started out pretty slow. My Farmer left to do his morning route and I sat on the couch enjoying my morning brew soaking in the wonderful warmth of the sun through my west facing picture window. Then it occurred to me that it was actually warm outside so I should be sitting outside soaking in the sun while drinking my morning brew. Wearing good clothes on the job always means a messy job is on the horizon
It never fails. When I don’t change out of my good clothes, my Farmer needs my help, and it’s usually guaranteed to be messy. The other day, I came home from town just as it was feeding time. I changed into my muck boots and figuring since I would just be driving the tractor, I didn’t need to take the time to change my pants and shirt. Since I’d have my outer pants and coat on, I’d be just fine. We fed the cows and all was good, I was still clean, then my Farmer stated that he had been watching a heifer in labor for a couple of hours…
