Heavenly Triple Chocolate Layered Mud Pie

Here is a wonderful, quick (15 min) and easy, guaranteed to please, chocolate pie. My Farmer LOVES it and I do too because, of course, it’s EASY!!! We gained a LOT of weight the winter I found this recipe. My Farmer said that it could be improved upon, so I kept making it and tweaking the recipe, trying to make it satisfactory to him. Actually he does this a lot. He actually words are “you need more practice at making this”. It’s just his way of getting me to make something more. It used to work, but it doesn’t work that way any more………well, not quite as much. I’ve grown wiser in my old age……..well, maybe stubborn. Instead of saying “you need to practice on that more” (which, in his defense, he does say it trying to be funny) he could say “that is amazing! You should make that again some time.” I guarantee, there is a waaaay better chance I would make it again for him…..….well maybe. He is learning, though. 😉

Chocolate Pie Ingrediants
Heavenly Triple Chocolate Layered Mud Pie ingredients

Triple Chocolate Layered Mud Pie

  • 3 squares BAKER’S Semi-Sweet Baking Chocolate, melted
  • 1/4 cup canned sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 baked pie crust, cooled
  • 3/4 cup of mini marshmallows (approx.)
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 2 pkg (4 serving size) JELL-O Chocolate Flavor Instant Pudding/Pie Filling
  • 1 tub (8 oz) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed

Mix chocolate and condensed mild until well blended. Pour into crust (quickly, as this sets up pretty fast). Layer mini marshmallows on top of chocolate. (this is where the “approx.” comes in. Put however many you want, little or lots) Mix both packages of dry pudding mix and milk in large bowl until well blended. (mixture will be thick) Spoon 1 1/2 cups of the pudding over the marshmallows. Add half of the whipped topping to the remaining pudding in the bowl; stir with a whisk until well blended. Spread over the pie’s pudding layer. Top the pie with the remaining whipped topping. I top it with a little grated chocolate to finish it off. Refrigerate 3 hours. Makes 10 servings.

There are a lot of ways you can adjust this recipe. As I said, this is the way my Farmer likes it best. You can use a graham cracker crust, (which I prefer because its easy) or even use an OREO Pie Crust if you are a BIG chocolate fan. And instead of marshmallows, 1/2 cup of chopped nuts is really good. And if you don’t have 2 small packages of the JELL-O you can use 1 large package with 3 cups of cold milk. It’s fun to try it all different ways (I’ve even tried butterscotch pudding), so give it a try. I’d love to hear back from you if you find a way the makes it even more yummy!! Happy making!!!
