Making Silage…..or as we call it….Making Islage.
This year we made islage. What the heck is islage, you may ask. If I was to say we made silage, or even say ensilage, then you may know what I am talking about. I think it’s one of those “farm terms” that some call it this and some call it that and others call it this and that. I think I’ve even heard it called haylage. Whatever the correct terminology is, on our farm, it’s islage. Evidently that’s not a word. According to Google anyways. But, since this is my blog and I am in control, I am calling it islage. My Farmer, My Hero
OH MAN!! I had an “incident” happen to me this week that reminded me that there is no way I could ever farm this place on my own. Nope. NO. WAY. Here’s what happened. My job was to start the short wheel line by my house. It partly waters my yard so it benefits me, so I’m good with doing this job. What it entails is, moving the wheel line into place, hooking up the hose to the wheel line pipe, hooking up the other end of the hose to the outlet valve, and turning the water one. Easy peasy. My Exercise Program for the morning…
My Farmer came and found me this morning and says (after he says good morning, how are you this morning, of course), “I lost my phone. Would you want to go look for it for me?” I replied, “Well of course, dear. Where shall I look?” Haha, that’s probably not what I said, but it sounds good. This is not the first time I have been asked to find his phone. And probably not the last. I always find it, but it’s mostly credited to him because he usually has a pretty good idea of where he lost it. The one time that I still laugh at was quite a…
